Production

Learn how to get a film idea off the ground and into production with this course, which focuses on the pre-production and production processes. By focusing on getting your project "in the can" as opposed to the edit suite, this course will allow students more time to explore the many options available to writers, directors and cinematographers throughout the production process.

You will begin with an engaging media literacy workshop and a brainstorm session, followed by scriptwriting, visual storytelling and storyboarding workshops. Learn about character and plot development, and begin to conceive your story through the lens of a miniDV camera.

With script in hand, you will explore the world of production: learn how to use a professional quality camera, how to negotiate locations, and how to prepare, light and film your scenes, subjects and sounds. Various lighting and shooting techniques will be discussed, and experimented with, as you discover the vast potential of media production, as well as how to retain and impart your newly acquired skills.
