Why G.I.F.T.S. is good for your students...
G.I.F.T.S. courses can mean credits
Just one week at G.I.F.T.S. can mean a life-changing experience for a student. If you're a student, it could also provide Media Arts 11 and Film and TV 12 or CAPP credits.
We've correlated our curriculum with the IRPs for the BC's Media Arts 11, and Film and TV 12, and have discovered that the depth and breadth of knowledge gained during a G.I.F.T.S. Media Intensive Program is not only highly productive learning, but officially acknowledged as well. When students combine the 135 hours they spend at G.I.F.T.S. with the video they produce and the IRPs that we've listed, they have a chance to challenge, gain equivalency or get external credits for these courses, depending on their school district.
G.I.F.T.S. promotes Media Literacy
Media Literacy forms an essential part of every G.I.F.T.S. program. One reason why we believe our students are so successful, even as novice filmmakers, is because of the emphasis we place on understanding what goes on behind the scenes in media production. We can e-mail you a media literacy kit with exercises and full IRPs. Contact us at:

Professional Development Programs for Teachers
Our Professional Development for Teachers Program (PDTP) provides the intensive curriculum and unique environment of a G.I.F.T.S. program, aimed at high-school teachers wishing to acquire or develop the necessary skills to teach various aspects of production and media literacy.
These weekend or week-long sessions are a perfect way for educators to take back to the classroom a taste of what G.I.F.T.S. offers its students all year round.
Upcoming 2006 PDTP sessions: week-long: Jul 23-29; weekend: Oct 20-22
G.I.F.T.S. has an astonishing 97% completion rate
Practically all of the students attending G.I.F.T.S. complete their production in the time allotted, despite the hectic deadlines and enthusiastic pressure. We attribute our success rate to our innovative focus on mentorship, collaboration, creative commitment, and sheer joyful inspiration.
For our teenage students, the experience offered in our boot-camp environment represents something very different, and very new. By challenging their ability to work hard and see a project through to its end, they expand the boundaries of their creative and productive potential. Judging from what our graduates tell us, it's an experience that brings new-found confidence, and translates very readily into real-world life skills.
Bursaries/Financial Assistance/Scholarships /Work trade
In 2005, over $40,000 worth of assistance was provided for students in financial need to attend programs at G.I.F.T.S. We also have a unique Work trade program, allowing students to work for Tuition credit.
