Our most experimental and creative session, this process-oriented course is for those interested in expanding the definition of guerilla filmaking. We discuss films and the work of filmmakers, as part of an ongoing dialogue of what can be imagined in the medium. We also discuss film stock, and aspects of processing. But the real fun begins when the demonstrations are over, and our students go out and shoot film. Next comes hand-processing, viewings, and a discussion of further manipulation, such as tinting, toning, or scratch animation. After the hand-work is complete, the films are transferred for digital non-linear editing and soundtrack composition. Some of our most exciting pieces have come out of the film week, such as The Girl Upstairs, which continues to be requested by festivals world-wide.
