This weekend is primarily designed for high school teachers interested in teaching media literacy, script writing, and video production. Course participants will work in teams of 4 or 5 to produce a one minute drama, documentary or multimedia animation with the guidance of a professional media producer. The emphasis of the course is process rather than product oriented and will include intermittent discussion of various teaching techniques proven effective in training youth in video production. This is the 6th year this popular intensive has been offered. Space is limited.

New Production Streams offered for Pro-D!
We've had a lot of requests for professional development which focuses on specific areas of video production. In response, we bring two new streams... (note that both streams are covered in our regular Pro-D weekends, but with greater time constraints - the new streams allow a more in-depth coverage)

Pre-Production and Production
Starting with an existing script, students will storyboard a short film, and plan their shoot, including props, locations, casting, organizing shots. Next is an intensive technical workshop with an introduction to GIFTS' state of the art video, lighting and sound equipment. Using digital cameras, purchasing equipment and suitability for different school programs will be covered. Finally it's time for the shoot: roles on the set, cinematography, directing, working with amateur actors.

Post Production

This stream covers everything after the shoot. Using the Cinestream non-linear editing program, students will take existing footage and turn it into a movie. Areas covered include: capturing, editing techniques, special effects, titles, basic sound editing and outputting to tape.
