The Adult Activist Video Documentary Week is based on GIFTS' spectacularly successful Media Intensive Program, a hands-on six-day session that teaches students how to make a video, from concept to post-production, in one week. Normally, these sessions are very demanding, requiring a time commitment of up to eighty hours during that period. Since this can mean working until after midnight on some days during the week, we've found that it can be quite gruelling for mature students who are less willing to "burn the midnight oil". So we've introduced a less intensive course which will still allow students to complete their videos, and get enough rest.

The Adult Activist Week is of course open to anyone but is being developed to meet the needs of adults involved in NGOs of all kinds who would like to learn how to make issue-based documentaries. You will learn all aspects of independent documentary production. You will be mentored by professionals in the field using the methods that have resulted in GIFTS' students winning more festival awards than any other film school in Canada.

The will be one difference from our regular week-long MIP course, however. Our course will production stream on documentary making and will include an additional day of instruction so as to have a schedule that is not quite as hectic as the one that the teens and early twenty-somethings enjoy so much.
