A Media Intensive for the environmentally-minded

Underwater Videography * Youth / Adult Documentary

Here's another vote for media democracy! This time we're giving the environmentally-minded a chance to come forward for some innovative training. And, after years of repeated requests to offer video training for divers, we're jumping right in with a chance for some students to dive, shoot, and edit a documentary in some of the best diving waters in the world.

Presented in partnership with the Galiano Conservancy Association.

This session is based on a regular Media Intensive, but has three unique components:

DIVERS: underwater videography
Eight students will be working on marine documentaries in two teams, using spectacular underwater sites near Galiano Island. Students must have valid diving certificates and a minimum skill level.

YOUTH / ADULT: documentary
16 students will make a conservation-oriented documentary in teams of four. No experience required.

All students leave with a finished video.

COSTS

Documentary: $840 + GST (includes room/board, equipment and transportation on Galiano).

Divers: $1,045 + GST (includes room/board, video equipment and transportation during course). Divers supply their own dive gear.

Financial aid: There are 12 full tuition scholarships available. Go here to find out more. We also have some suggestions on our fundraising page.

SPACE IS VERY LIMITED: PLEASE REGISTER EARLY TO RESERVE A SPACE.
