Help GIFTS thrive

Our Sponsors

GIFTS sends out a big thanks to all our sponsors and financial supporters, including those who wish to remain anonymous. You folks are helping to make dreams come true.

Some of our past and present sponsors (some of whom are also partners):

Communicopia.net (for help with this website), The Access to Media Education Society, Mainframe Entertainment Inc., The National Film Board of Canada, Jane Morris Berry Post, CHEK TV (Victoria), MyVTV, ICBC and the Autoplan Brokers, YouthQuake, The Knowledge Network, Media that Matters, The BC Ministry of Education, and Human Resources Development Canada. And let's not forget the many regional Arts Councils, service clubs, school districts, scholarship funds, band councils, and various private donors who have made it possible for students to attend GIFTS.

Sponsorship

Change someone's life: help them become a filmmaker.

At GIFTS we help turn dreams into films, and make filmmakers out of dreamers. Moviemaking is an expensive art, however, and while we are one of the least expensive film schools available, many students have difficulty meeting the fees. We provide funds to those in need and encourage special programs which are fully funded. We invite you to assist us in ensuring that moviemaking remains a democratic art.

Sponsorships can take various forms: contributions to a bursary or scholarship fund, support for a special program, or in-kind donations for the School.

Sponsors are acknowledged on all documents associated with the program and in production credits.

Bursaries and Scholarships

We are committed to providing access to anyone who wants to become a filmmaker. Every year GIFTS and our partners distribute over $40,000 in bursaries to students in need, plus scholarships to those who show exceptional promise. GIFTS provides some of the funds for these programs; the rest comes from corporate and private donors who love what we can do for students.

To give to the Bursary Fund (a charitable donation)
contact us directly, or contact the Access to Media Education Society, tel: 250.539.5904, email: [email protected], or send cheques (payable to AMES, memo "GIFTS bursary") directly to AMES/GIFTS Bursary Fund, Box 124, Galiano Island, BC, V0N 1P0, Canada.

To start up a special scholarship fund, please contact Wreford Miller or George Harris at 250.539.5729 or email [email protected].

Special Programs

Every year GIFTS works with various partners, sponsors, and clients to bring special programs to GIFTS which focus on a certain theme. Examples of this are the RoadSense Video Project program (1998-2001), Action on Climate Change (1999), and the EnviroWeek 2002. These programs are funded to provide open access to the most keen applicants and use a theme to drive the curriculum and production goals. Sponsorship can take the form of funding or in-kind donations such as expertise and time or equipment.

Please contact George Harris at 250.539.5729 or email [email protected] if you are interested in special programs at GIFTS.

Investors

GIFTS welcomes socially progressive investors in our endeavours. Please contact us directly if you are interested in ensuring that the GIFTS magic continues to work miracles.
