New for the spring of 2013, GIFTS is delivering its acclaimed one-week Media-Intensive Program on weekends to accommodate weekday work and school schedules. The course will be broken into four consecutive but independent weekend sessions. You may select the workshops most convenient and applicable to your educational goals or participate in all four, completing a film from the first brainstorm to the final edit.

April 5-7, 2013 : Weekend one is all about the story. Students will take part in script-writing and visual storytelling workshops, and then, collaborate in small groups to brainstorm, work on, and complete a polished script. Our professional script-writing coaches will be guiding the process all along the way.

April 12-14, 2013 : Weekend two is for developing technical skills. Hands-on camera, sound, and lighting workshops will lead into an in-camera edit exercise. Story boarding will also take place on this weekend as well as other pre-production workshops and activities.

April 19-21, 2013 : Weekend three is time for production. Each small group will be assigned a production kit and mentor and have two full days to explore Galiano's quiet springtime peace while shooting a script created on weekend # 1movie.

April 26-28, 2013 : Weekend four is for post-production. Small groups will be assigned edit suites and raw footage from the week before (returning students will continue working on their project throughout and groups will be assigned accordingly). Students will have two full days for edit (Premier Pro) and sound design workshops, and to edit the piece to its final cut.

As always, the focus will be on a collaborative hands-on experience. And all meal will be catered by chef extraordinaire, Tim.

Tsawwassen ferry departs Fridays 6:30 pm, Swartz Bay ferry departs 7:20.  Galiano return ferries depart 5:00 pm Sundays. Ferry crossing approx 6o minutes.
